Our Family Story

WHO IS HARRIS RUNDLE?

1905

Harris Rundle opened his first practice in Belfast in 1905

The business expanded over the following years, with branches opening as far afield as Cork, Dublin and Londonderry.

1932

His son Cecil joined the firm in 1932

He consolidated the business over the next 40 years, taking it through the introduction of the NHS in 1948.

1976

Cecil’s son Alan qualified in London in 1976

His long career at Harris Rundle ran from then until 2021. Alan’s particular interest was complex contact lens fitting which he excelled at.

2009

Lucy Rundle, Alan’s daughter, qualified in 2009 and is the current lead Optometrist.

She keeps the practice up to date with the latest eyewear fashion trends.

Meet Lucy

I’m Lucy Rundle, Optometrist and Director of Harris Rundle Optometrists, now in our fourth generation. I qualified in 2009 and am currently the lead Optometrist.

I enjoy all aspects of the profession including staying at the forefront of technology- OCT (Optical Coherence Tomography) which has been a valuable addition- and keeping the practice up to date with the latest eyewear fashion trends.

Lucy is an incredible optometrist. She spent over 3 months going back and forth with me to find the perfect pair of contact lenses after laser surgery. All the team are incredibly friendly and conscientious. I couldn't be more grateful for the extra effort put in. Thank you again!
